Band Websites

Here are my top 5 favourite Band websites;
The Saturdays
I liked this simple centred layout which structures in neat way.
It advertises their new programme and what they are up to in the industry, the turquoise colour scheme is also girly and suits the genre of Pop music. Also the Band logo and Band photo clearly states their band.

Coldplay
I liked this Neon Electronic theme throughout, i liked the font colour and the quirky video that is playing in the centre. Everything is clearly advertised in columns from left to right. The tour also reflects the urban feel of the website which i enjoy.

One Direction
I loved this childlike primary coloured website. Its perfect for their target audience of 14+ screaming girls. I also like the effective use of a map in the foreground as it portrays the boys touring. It also shows recent news and events that fans like to keep up to date with which is useful.  I also liked the collaged background and the post it note vibe of the website.

Taylor Swift
This website portrays the Country Genre of music that Taylor Swift is successly known for. The Bold logo and the lemon coloured font is girly and combined with the background makes a pretty website. The quirky images of Taylor are also exclusive to the website which draws fans in. Every piece of information is neatly organised at the top of the website. Neat and sweet.

Azealia Banks
A quirky rap star needs a quirky website. Azealia Banks' artistic website portrays her persona perfect. with a Cartoon illustration of the one and only. It advertises her new album artwork and shows Azealias latest tweets. I love this crazy aquatic themed website.

Web Standard

The Key to a successful Web Standard is four different but well known standards.
Definition of HTML: The purpose of a web browser is to read HTML documents and compose them into visible or audible web pages.

Purpose of HTML: HTML allows images and objects to be embedded and can be used to create interactive forms. It provides a means to create structured documents by denoting quotes and other items. HTML is written in form of elements which read HTML consisting of tags enclosed in angle brackets like <html>. HTML is the main markup language for creating web pages and other information that can be displayed in a web browser. Web browsers can also refer to cascading style sheets to define the appearance and layout of text and other material. The W3C, maintainer of both the HTML and CSS standards, encourages the use of CSS over explicit presentational HTML markup. HTML is the most common used web standard which is read by JavaScript.

HTML has been developing since 1955.

Definition of CSS: CSS is style sheet language used for describing the presentation semantics (the look and formatting) of a document written in a markup language. Its most common application is to style web pages written in HTML.

Purpose of CSS: Web browsers can also refer to Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to define the appearance and layout of text and other material. The W3C, maintainer of both the HTML and the CSS standards, encourages the use of CSS over explicit presentational HTML markup.

These Styled Sheets were developed in the 1980's.

Definition of XML: An XML document is a string of characters. Almost every legal Unicode character may appear in an XML document. Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a markup language that defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable.

Purpose of XML: As of 2009, hundreds of XML-based languages have been developed.L. XML-based formats have become the default for many office-productivity tools, including Microsoft Office (Office Open XML), OpenOffice.org and LibreOffice (OpenDocument), and Apple's iWork.

Definition of XHTML: is a family of XML markup languages that mirror or extend versions of the widely used as Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), the language in which web pages are written.

Purpose of XHTML: There are various differences between XHTML and HTML. The Document Object Model is a tree structure that represents the page internally in applications, and XHTML and HTML are two different ways of representing that in markup. It was adopted to achieve maximum results and develop HTML as a web standard. It was developed in the Year 2000.

Resources

What are the three basic colours that monitors transmit?
The colours are "Primary" not basic, they are Red, Green & Blue. On a monitor, or a TV, these are additional colours.

How many different colours are there in the web-safe palette?

  24
Web colours are colours used in designing web pages, and the methods for describing and specifying those colours. Colours may be specified as an RGB triplet or in hexadecimal format. A colour is specified according to the intensity of its red, green and blue components, each represented by eight bits. There are 24 bits used to specify a web colour.

Are the majority of people we refer to as colour blind unable to see colour at all?

Colourblindness refers to the inability to see colour. True colourblindness is rare as most people are able to see some degree of colour.

What is the key to designing sites that are accessible to people who are colour blind?

Most of the time when people put images on the web, the fact that they are in color at all is irrelevant. It may be nicer to see the colors, but the viewer can understand the image just fine even with all of the colors removed. If, however, the purpose of posting the image is to communicate something about the colors in that image, then it is important to provide some other way of understanding the information.

Colour Schemes

Primary ColoursIn the RYB (or subtractive) colour model, the primary colours are red, yellow and blue.
The three secondary colors (green, orange and purple) are created by mixing two primary colors.

Another six tertiary colors are created by mixing primary and secondary colours.

Monochromatic - The monochromatic color scheme uses variations in lightness and saturation of a single color. This scheme looks clean and elegant. Monochromatic colors go well together, producing a soothing effect. The monochromatic scheme is very easy on the eyes, especially with blue or green hues. You can use it to establish an overall mood. The primary color can be integrated with neutral colors such as black, white, or gray. However, it can be difficult, when using this scheme, to highlight the most important elements.

Complimentary The complimentary colour scheme is made of two colours that are opposite each other on the color wheel. This scheme looks best when you put a warm colour against a cool colour, for example, red versus green-blue. The complimentary scheme is intrinsically high-contrast.
When using the complimentary scheme, it is important to choose a dominant color and use its complimentary color for accents. Using one color for the background and its complimentary color to highlight important elements, you will get color dominance combined with sharp color contrast.

Triadic -The triadic colour scheme uses three colours equally spaced around the colour wheel. This scheme is popular among artists because it offers strong visual contrast while retaining balance, and colour richness.

Analogous The analogous colour scheme uses colours that are adjacent to each other on the colour wheel. One colour is used as a dominant colour while others are used to enrich the scheme.

Band Colours

The colours i would create my Band Site in would be:
Gold writing
White/Light Brown Background
Gold and Turquoise Banner
Black Navigation Colour
I liked the colour scheme in this photo, they compliment eachother nicely and are neutral colours that both Female and Male will like. However colour schemes depend on the Genre of the band.

This Image would reflect a classical band as it involves light shades which represent the genre of classical voices and morals of the lyrics. I chose a mixture of Analogous which reflect nature and Tertiary colours.

Colour Theory

Symbolism Of Colour is key in a successful Web Design
Primary Colours which are Red, Yellow and Blue usually represent simplicity.
Secondary Colours which are Orange, Green and Purple and the mixed colours of Primary and usually represent something more detailed.
Tertiary Colours are colours in more depth and involve colours such as Violet and Pink.
The colours portray and reflect a certain site and Genre, which is suitable for individual sites purposes.
Such as Beyonces website. I was expecting powerful imagery and a colours and that is what i recieved.
My first impression of the colours is that the splash of gold portrays wealth and luxury, what Beyonce is all about. The colour gold is also the central colour for the website, it promotes power, courage and confidence. It promotes her new tour and it indulges you into wanting to find out more and leads you to buying tickets. A cleverly structured promotional Theory. I also think this is neatly structured website and i like the use of imagery and video footage which gives it an alternative vibe.
